Abachi wood, also known as ayous, is a lightweight, pale hardwood prized for its low thermal conductivity and smooth, splinter-resistant surface. Because it stays cool to the touch and resists warping, it is a popular choice for sauna interiors, spa products, and high-end woodworking applications.

Yakisugi is a traditional Japanese wood preservation technique (often called Shou Sugi Ban in the West) that involves charring the surface of wood with an open flame. This process creates a carbonized layer that makes the material highly resistant to rot, pests, fire, and UV damage.
